Hi there! My name is Yifan Xiong. I’m a PhD student in the Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics (GGB) program at the UC Riverside, co-advised by Prof. Wei Li and Prof. Yinsheng Wang. A fun fact about my last name Xiong (熊), means “Bear” in Chinese. Naturally, it feels like a special bond to be living in California (the bear flag state) and studying at UC Riverside, the home of Scotty Bear🐻.

My Research Field

My research interests are now focus on precision medicine. Especially develop computational methods for liquid biopsies, specializing in the bioinformatics analysis of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) to uncover non-invasive biomarkers for disease monitoring and early detection.

Furthermore, I am committed to promoting open, collaborative, and reproducible scientific research.
